Who is Ellen?
It's me, the person behind the gingerbread houses. Maybe you've recently found me, or maybe you've been following my builds over the years?
Creativity throughout life
I have always loved to create. Color, shape and creativity have accompanied me throughout my life. As a hairdresser, I worked for over ten years with hair as my means of expression – I shaped, colored and created, and competed both nationally and internationally. Every hairstyle was a small artistic challenge, and I loved it.
When I became a mother, my creativity found new paths. Crafts, gardening and small creations filled my days. In 2021 I trained as a garden architect, and today I have the joy of creating personal and inspiring gardens for customers through my company GREJA Trädgård & Design .
The gingerbread house journey
My journey with gingerbread houses actually started back in 2011 – after a first attempt at building one that completely fell apart. I remember the frustration, but also the curiosity. I didn’t want to give up!
With my own recipes, self-designed templates and a stubborn desire to create sustainable and beautiful houses, I began to experiment. Many late evenings at the kitchen counter were filled with the smell of gingerbread, tests of patience, small mistakes and new insights. Slowly a dream grew – to develop my knowledge and share it with others.
After many years of high-level creation and a growing interest from people who wanted to learn what I do, in 2023 I took the plunge and sold my first house model.
Today I spread joy, inspiration and creativity to creators around the world through Ellen's Design - Gingerbreadhouse.
More than baking
For me, gingerbread houses are about more than baking – they are about creativity, tradition and building memories together. I hope my templates and tips inspire you to create your own traditions, dare to play with your imagination and enjoy the moments when the house takes shape under your hands.
